From location to luxury to budget, this guide will help you choose the best Hyatt based on what matters most to you, all in the heart of Nashville’s most walkable areas.
Quick Picks: Best Hyatt in Downtown Nashville
Here’s a quick rundown of the best Hyatt hotels in downtown Nashville, categorized by travel style.
- For First-Time Visitors: Hyatt Centric or Holston House
- For Bachelorette Parties: Dream Nashville or Hyatt Centric
- For Concerts & Events: Holston, Centric or Hyatt Place
- For Luxury, Wedding, Couples: Thompson Nashville or Grand Hyatt
- For Budget Travelers: Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt House, or Hyatt Place
- For Globalists: Grand Hyatt or Thompson Nashville
Best for Different Types of Travelers
With eight Hyatt hotels inside Nashville’s downtown Inner Loop, there’s a perfect fit for every traveler. Here’s our take on which Hyatt fits your needs best.
Best for First-Time Visitors to Nashville
Visiting Nashville for the first time? Stay at the Hyatt Centric or Holston House.
They both have prime locations that put you steps from Lower Broadway and all the touristy fun. Both have rooftop bars to enjoy Nashville’s skyline. Whether you’re diving into Nashville’s honky-tonk scene or just getting a taste of the city, these two Hyatt hotels are perfect for a first-time visit, right in Nashville’s most visitor-friendly area.
Best for Nashville Bachelorette Parties
Looking to go big with a wild weekend? Nashville is the bachelorette party capital of the world, and Dream Nashville is hands down the best Hyatt in Nashville for a party!
It’s got that high energy vibe, especially with its rear entrance directly onto Printer’s Alley, a one-block stretch with a mini French Quarter vibe.
If you want a newer and slightly less rowdy hotel, Hyatt Centric is also a great choice for bachelorette parties. Not only will you have quick access to all the honky-tonks on Broadway, the Centric’s rooftop pool and bar is great from mid March through October.
Best for Nashville Concerts and Events
If you’re in Nashville for a concert or big event at Bridgestone Arena or Ryman Auditorium, stay at the Hyatt Centric, Holston House, or Hyatt Place. The Hyatt Centric Nashville was a great choice for Sandra (aka Zuzu) & me when we saw the Eagles in concert.
All three hotels are a short 5-10 minute walk to Bridgestone, the main concert venue in Music City. It’s another 1/2 block to the Ryman from Bridgestone. FYI, downtown Nashville is very walkable, about 20-30 minutes from end to end.
Of these 3 options, Hyatt Place is usually the cheapest. But Hyatt Centric and the Holston House are much nicer hotels and just as close to Bridgestone & Ryman.
Going to a concert at the Ascend Amphitheater which overlooks the Cumberland River? Stay at the Centric & Hyatt Place. They’re right next to Ascend, about a 1 minute walk.
In Nashville for the Tennessee Titans or a bowl game? Hyatt Centric would also be our 1st choice for a football game. Hyatt Place would be tops if you’re on a tight budget. OTOH, most of the rowdy fans will want to stay at Dream Nashville.
Best Hyatt for Luxury Travelers
For a high-end, boutique experience, Thompson Nashville is where you’ll want to be. Rooms are sleek, service is top-notch, and the fantastic Marsh House restaurant serves the best Hyatt breakfast in town.
The Grand Hyatt is another great option, offering spacious rooms, a rooftop pool, and a more classic luxury feel. It’s also the only Nashville Hyatt with a Club Lounge. World of Hyatt elites can enjoy breakfast, snacks, and evening drinks here.
I’d also recommend the Grand Hyatt and the Thompson as the best Hyatt properties for weddings or a romantic couples getaway.
Best for Budget Travelers to Nashville
On a budget but still want to stay downtown? Stay at Caption by Hyatt, Hyatt House Nashville Downtown/Convention Center or Hyatt Place.
As the only Category 4 Hyatt downtown, Hyatt House is the cheapest Hyatt for cash rates and takes the least amount of Hyatt points. However, I don’t usually recommend the Hyatt House. If cash prices between these 3 are close, the brand new Caption or the Hyatt Place are better picks.
I’d happily pay a small premium for the better location as both the Caption and the Hyatt Place are closer to Broadway.
OTOH, why not stay at the best Hyatt in Nashville for free like we do? We’ve stayed at all the nice Hyatts in Music City and our bill is always $0 for the room. Learn how we do that here.
Best Hyatt in Nashville for Globalists
If you’re a World of Hyatt Globalist like us, book the Grand Hyatt or Thompson Nashville for the best perks.
The Grand Hyatt features Nashville’s only Hyatt Club Lounge, while Thompson Nashville is a standout for its exceptional dining at Marsh House, plus a $120 daily dining credit for Globalists.
For upgrades, you’ll probably have better luck with the Grand Hyatt’s 53 suites vs the Thompson’s 18 suites.
Best for Families Visiting Nashville
For families, I think Grand Hyatt is ideal. The rooms are spacious, and it’s quiet enough for some downtime between exploring. Plus, the rooftop pool can be a big hit with the kids while Mom & Dad enjoy the rooftop bar.
Hyatt Place and Hyatt House are also good choices for families who want to be close to Nashville attractions without the premium price tag.
Which Hyatt in Nashville Is Best for You?
We’ve stayed at all five full-service Hyatt hotels in downtown Nashville, each with pros and cons.
Here’s our breakdown of which Hyatt might suit you best depending on what kind of trip you’re planning.
1. Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville
Best for: First-Time Visitors, Concerts, Bachelorette Parties
Hyatt Centric Downtown Nashville is one of our top picks for first-time visitors. It’s the newest of the full service Hyatt hotels and located just a few blocks from all the honky-tonks on Lower Broadway. The hip, boutique feel of the hotel is fun and trendy, and the location is unbeatable if you want to dive into Nashville’s main tourist area.
Read our detailed Hyatt Centric Nashville review! We used Hyatt points at this Hyatt Category 5 hotel to get a free staycation for an Eagles concert at Bridgestone!
The blue and copper rooms are on the smaller side, and the perks/recognition we received as Globalists were below average. OTOH, the rooftop pool and bar area are fantastic for chilling out when you need a break from the Nashville action. It’s open from about mid March to mid October.
While Ella’s, the Centric’s on-site restaurant, offers solid breakfast options, we thought the prices were a bit high, even for Nashville. If you’re not getting breakfast as a free Globalist perk, skip Ella’s and wait in the short line at the attached Pancake Pantry.
Locals wait for hours at the original Pancake Pantry location near Vanderbilt’s campus because it’s that good. And we’ve never seen a long line at this location on the edge of the Hyatt Centric building. Trust me, a 15-20 minute wait will absolutely be worth it!
2. Holston House Nashville
Best for: First-Time Visitors, Concert-Goers
Holston House is in a prime spot at the upper end of Nashville’s main tourist stretch, just two blocks from Bridgestone Arena. Our son Trent spent four years at historic Hume-Fogg High School right next door so he was excited to join us for a staycation at the Holston House.
The breakfast here was excellent. Trent said it was the best hotel breakfast ever but Zuzu & I think the Andaz Maui breakfast holds that title.
We appreciated the strong Globalist recognition at this Category 5 Hyatt. In addition to free breakfast, we got a nice upgrade to a corner room which gave us extra space.
The small rooftop bar & pool area, however, feels more like an Instagram backdrop than a relaxing spot for a swim. The tiny pool serves mostly as scenery for the rooftop bar.
Still, with its Art Deco charm and prime location, Holston House is one of the best choices for first-time visitors and anyone attending a concert or event nearby.
3. Grand Hyatt Nashville
Best for: Globalists, Luxury Travelers, Families
The Grand Hyatt Nashville is the largest Hyatt property in town, located just two extra blocks past Holston House from the main tourist area. Perfect for travelers who value luxury, need a little extra space, or have World of Hyatt elite status, this property has plenty to offer.
We stayed here before reaching Globalist status, so we missed out on Grand Club access and the top-tier room upgrade. But we still scored a high-floor room with a stunning view of downtown at this Category 6 Hyatt.
Read our detailed review of the Grand Hyatt Nashville!
The rooftop bar & pool “lou/na” has great views of the city skyline. The hotel’s on-site dining options are solid, but you’ll need to walk two short blocks to reach the shops, restaurants, and bars on Lower Broadway (aka the Honky Tonk Highway).
While our stay was affected by hit-or-miss service and a frustrating valet experience, we’ve heard positive reviews since then. We plan to return and expect a smoother, five-star stay as WoH Globalists.
4. Thompson Nashville
Best for: Luxury Travelers, Globalists
Located in the heart of the Gulch, one of Nashville’s newer, trendier neighborhoods, Thompson Nashville is ideal for luxury travelers looking for a high-end, boutique experience. We visited here for a Mother’s Day staycation using a Hyatt Category 1–7 Free Night Award (the Thompson is a Category 6), so our stay was totally free.
The Gulch is highly walkable, with the Thompson right at its center, surrounded by upscale shops and restaurants.
Check in was friendly and we got upgraded to an extra large Corner King room. Though we didn’t score the top-tier Thompson Suite, our room was great with views of the W Hotel’s pool and downtown Nashville.
Globalists receive a $120 daily credit, making breakfast at Marsh House (which is the best hotel breakfast in Nashville that we’ve had) a standout perk.
The large rooftop bar, L.A. Jackson, is a Nashville favorite with great skyline views.
Although it’s about a 10 minute walk to the rowdy bars of Broadway, the Gulch offers plenty of nearby shopping and dining. You’ve got a more relaxed, upscale side of Nashville right outside the hotel.
5. Dream Nashville
Best for: Bachelorette Parties
Dream Nashville is hands-down the best Hyatt for bachelorette parties in Nashville. With its prime location next to Printer’s Alley (a one-block stretch of bars and live music venues with a mini French Quarter vibe), Dream is perfect for visitors ready to celebrate and soak up Nashville’s nightlife.
We checked in early afternoon and the hotel’s DJ was already spinning in the lobby bar. It’s a fantastic scene if you’re here to party, but it’s a bit much if that’s not your plan.
At check-in, the front desk staff was efficient and we did get a welcome glass of champagne. Since they didn’t mention any, I asked about Globalist perks at this Category 6 Hyatt. We got two bottles of water but I was disappointed that the free Globalist breakfast was limited to a select menu. Their Sunday brunch menu looked incredible but we settled for a satisfactory breakfast from the limited menu.
We were upgraded from a standard Bronze King room to a Platinum room. Honestly, it felt like a junior suite and had a nice corner view down Fourth Avenue. The room also included a handwritten welcome note and a fun Nashville touch—a complimentary snack of Nashville Hot seasoned popcorn.
Not sure if everyone gets those or if it was just for Globalists.
Some guests have mentioned that rooms can be noisy at Dream, but we didn’t have any issues with that.
For bachelorette parties or anyone in town for a wild weekend, Dream Nashville’s atmosphere and location near Printer’s Alley make it a great choice.
6. Caption by Hyatt Downtown Nashville – The Gulch
Best for: Budget Travelers, Exploring Music Row
The newest Hyatt in Nashville is the Caption by Hyatt. It offers a stylish and affordable stay just off Broadway, the city’s main tourist strip.
While it’s technically in the trendy Gulch neighborhood, it’s up the hill from the main Gulch area. It’s still a good location, just in-between the upscale shops of the Gulch and the bars of Lower Broadway. Kind of a happy medium if you don’t necessarily need to be in the middle of the action.
It’s a good pick whether you’re planning to explore Music Row, just west of downtown in the West End/Vanderbilt area, or hit the honky-tonks on Lower Broadway. While it’s a bit farther from Broadway than some other Hyatts, the 10-15 minute walk is easy enough for most.
Since it’s a “Limited Service” property, the rates here are usually lower than the full service Grand or Thompson. If you’re paying cash and sticking to a budget, this could be your best Hyatt option in Nashville.
While we haven’t stayed here yet, we plan to book a free stay soon to check it out firsthand!
7. Hyatt Place Nashville Downtown
Best for: Budget Travelers, Quick Access to Tourist Spots
Hyatt Place Nashville Downtown is another good option for budget-conscious travelers paying cash. But I probably wouldn’t stay here on Hyatt points or a Free Night Certificate.
While it’s not as luxurious as the other Hyatt’s in Nashville, it’s tied with Hyatt Centric for “Best Location.” Just a few blocks from Lower Broadway, you’re just a 3-5 minute walk from Nashville’s main tourist attractions.
We haven’t stayed at this Hyatt Place but we went inside when we stayed next door at the Centric. If you’ve ever stayed in a Hyatt Place, this one is exactly what you expect: cookie cutter and perfectly fine. It’s not as fancy as the Hyatt Place Knoxville or as new as the fantastic Hyatt Place PCB, but it gets the job done.
This is a solid budget option for cash stays, but not good for points redemptions.
As one of four Hyatt Category 5 hotels in downtown Nashville, this property costs 20k Hyatt points per night. At that rate, I’d much rather stay at the Hyatt Centric or Holston House. Redeeming a Category 1-7 Free Night Award? Absolutely stay at the Grand Hyatt or Thompson over this mundane Hyatt Place.
For cash stays, though, both the Hyatt Place and Caption by Hyatt offer great value. While you won’t get our typical 3.8 cents per Hyatt point value with a points booking here, the Hyatt Place is clean, comfortable, and in an excellent location.
It’s a perfectly nice base for exploring Nashville on a budget.
8. Hyatt House Nashville Downtown/Convention Center
Best for: Budget Travelers, Families
Hyatt House Nashville Downtown/Convention Center is an option for budget-conscious travelers and families. With its indoor pool and suite-style rooms, this newly built Hyatt could be a good choice for extended stays and families needing more space.
It’s the only Hyatt Category 4 hotel in downtown Nashville so you can use your Category 1-4 free night awards here or get a free standard night with 15k Hyatt points. Cash rates are typically $120 to $140 but can jump up on peak dates.
However, the biggest drawback for the Hyatt House is the location.
While it’s not far from the main tourist areas, it’s situated on the southern edge of downtown Nashville’s redevelopment zone. Unlike the other Hyatt hotels, it’s across the street from some vacant lots and a few run-down buildings. While most visitors will likely feel fine, we find the area a bit less safe compared to other Hyatt locations, especially at night.
That said, with construction booming in Nashville, this will likely change soon.
Unless you need the full kitchen or absolute lowest price of this Hyatt House, I don’t recommend this hotel for a stay in Nashville.
Final Thoughts: Choosing the Best Hyatt in Nashville
Downtown Nashville offers a diverse range of Hyatt properties, each catering to different types of travelers. Whether you’re looking for luxury, bachelorette party vibes, or family-friendly comfort, there’s a Hyatt that fits your needs. Here’s a quick recap of our recommendations:
- For First-Time Visitors: Hyatt Centric or Holston House
- For Bachelorette Parties: Dream Nashville or Hyatt Centric
- For Concerts and Events: Holston House, Hyatt Centric or Hyatt Place
- For Luxury Travelers: Thompson Nashville or Grand Hyatt
- For Budget Travelers: Caption, Hyatt Place or Hyatt House
- For Globalists: Grand Hyatt or Thompson Nashville
- Redeeming Cat 1-4 Free Night Award: Hyatt House
- Redeeming Cat 1-7 Award: Grand Hyatt or Thompson Nashville
Ultimately, no matter which Hyatt you choose, you’re guaranteed a comfortable stay in our great city that’s full of life, music, and Southern hospitality.
