I was targeted for a Delta SkyMiles Status Match offer from Amex.
Just received an email from Amex and Delta Airlines to get an upgrade to my SkyMiles Status. Here’s the email that I got.
Delta Status Match Triggered by Amex Business Platinum
Here’s what the email from American Express said:
ENJOY MORE REWARDING TRAVEL |
on Delta Air Lines with this exclusive Medallion® Status upgrade offer¹ |
Ross, as an American Express Card Member, we want to offer you an exclusive limited-time Medallion® Status upgrade offer from Delta Air Lines.¹ |

Airlines that Qualify for the Status Match
According to the email, airlines that qualify for this Delta Status Match include:
- Alaska Airlines
- American Airlines
- JetBlue
- United Airlines
- Southwest Airlines
Status Challenge Offer
The upgrade is free for 6 months and there’s an included status challenge which would extend the Delta SkyMiles Status for almost a year.
Delta Status Match Comparison Chart
There’s also a chart that shows what Delta Elite Status they’ll offer to you.
According to that chart, my current A-List status on Southwest Airlines will earn a Delta SkyMiles upgrade to Gold status.
If they give me Gold status, Zuzu would get the same perks when she’s traveling with me on the same reservation.
That would make Zuzu & me eligible for free seat upgrades as well as 1 free checked bag. We’d also get priority boarding and a dedicated phone line if & when we need to call Delta’s customer support.
When I clicked the link, I was prompted to enter the email address that received the offer.
Then it had me fill in this form and provide proof of my elite status with a qualifying airline.
Here’s what it says about uploading supporting documentation of your elite credentials.
Upload Supporting Documentation
Please upload two documents; 1) a valid, non-expired elite physical or digital membership card or credential with your name and expiration date on it and 2) a statement showing your earned elite status with an airline and the corresponding activity with that airline that enabled the status tier, with your name on it. For both materials, you may upload a photograph, screenshot of your app or computer screen, or other file format as long as it clearly shows the required information, your elite status level, valid expiration date, and your name.
I added a screenshot from my Southwest Rapid Rewards account and hit submit.
The FAQs say that they will approve or deny my request in within 7-14 business days.
Will I Use Delta SkyMiles Elite Status?
I didn’t have specific plans to fly on Delta in the next few months but, if I get approved, this SkyMiles status upgrade would make it more likely that we’ll fly Delta.
Sure would have been a nice perk if we could have scored lie flat seats for our recent trip to Hawaii in February. I love Southwest but 10 hours is just too long to squeeze my XL frame into economy seats.
I’ll update this when I hear back from Delta about my status upgrade application.
