Looking for an all inclusive resort from a name you know? Hyatt has over 150 all inclusive resorts which are mostly in Mexico and the Caribbean.
As new empty nesters who’ve discovered the secret to free luxury travel, Zuzu & I are on a mission to try them all!
In this guide, you’ll learn everything that you need to know to choose the best all inclusive resort!
9 All Inclusive Resort Brands
Back in 2013, Hyatt launched their first all inclusive resort brands:
- the family friendly Hyatt Ziva Resorts, and
- the adults only Hyatt Zilara Resorts.
As Zuzu & I have seen first hand, Ziva and Zilara resorts are great.
Whereas the all inclusive resort stereotype brings to mind watered-down drinks and low quality food, the Ziva & Zilara cocktails were always top notch and the dining has been great.
With Hyatt’s acquisition of AMR in 2022, Hyatt went from having 2 all inclusive brands to having a global portfolio of nine luxury all-inclusive resort brands. Hyatt refers to them as the Inclusive Collection.
While not part of the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, there are 3 more Hyatt brands that offer an all inclusive style experience.
Ranking the Hyatt Inclusive Collection Brands
With a few exceptions, we’ve had fantastic experiences at both Hyatt Ziva & Hyatt Zilara Resorts. Due to our personal experience, we rank them ahead of the other Hyatt All Inclusive Resort brands in this list.
In order of best to worst, here’s our rank of the best Hyatt resort brands.
#1-a: Hyatt Ziva

One of the 2 original Hyatt All Inclusive Resort brands, Hyatt Ziva is known as the family friendly resort. You’ll often find a Ziva and Zilara on adjoining properties like we had in Jamaica.
Best Hyatt Ziva Resort: Hyatt Ziva Cancun
#1-b: Hyatt Zilara
As the original adults only Hyatt all inclusive resort, Hyatt Zilara has set a high bar. We loved our time at the Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall in Jamaica. And since it was adjoining the Ziva Rose Hall, we had full access to all the restaurants, bars and pools on both resorts.

Best Hyatt Zilara Resort: Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall
You’ll often find a Ziva and Zilara next door or near each other. The difference is that Hyatt Ziva is family friendly while Hyatt Zilara is adults only, no kids allowed.
Yes, if you booked the adults only Hyatt Ziva, you can also eat at the Hyatt Ziva restaurants and bars. While Ziva guests are supposed to stay on the family friendly Ziva property, we’ve seen plenty of Hyatt Ziva guests on the adults only Hyatt Zilara side.
#2: Zoëtry Wellness & Spa Resorts
While we’ve not visited one yet, the adult oriented Zoetry Resorts look like they might be the very best Hyatt all inclusive brand. Zoetry Resorts are much smaller then many of the all inclusive resorts in the Caribbean.
Described as luxury for the discerning traveler, Zoetry Resorts look to be about as good as it gets.
- Adult Oriented but not Adult Only
- High End Luxury All Inclusive Resort
- All Food & Drinks Included
- Room Service Included
Best Zoëtry Resort: Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya
Zuzu & I have our eye on the Zoëtry Paraiso de la Bonita Riviera Maya. It’s an easy trip for us to Cancun from Nashville & this small resort looks amazing. Especially since we’ll be able to stay there for free!
#3: Secrets Resorts & Spas
While not quite as luxurious as Zoetry, I rate Secrets All Inclusive Resorts to be a fairly upscale, adults only all inclusive resort. “Romance for Couples” is a common theme in the marketing for Secrets Resorts.
- Adult Only
- Upscale Luxury All Inclusive Resort
- All Food & Drinks Included
- No reservations required at the restaurants (which could be either good or bad)
- Room Service Included
- Watch our for hard sell of Unlimited Vacation Club (UVC) at some Secrets
Zuzu & I have been to one Secrets (which was disappointing) and we’ve booked 3 more vacations to Secrets Resorts for this year. Make sure that you sign up for our newsletter to hear how these free vacations go for us!
Best Secrets Resort: Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun
Secrets Impressions
Unveiled in 2022 as an ultra luxury concept, Secrets Impressions aims to be the best adults only all inclusive resort brand. Starting with 2 Secrets Impressions in the Cancun area, AMR plans to roll out more of these resorts.
Zuzu & I are booked to visit & review the Secrets Impressions Moxché in 2023. The cash price of our 5 night stay is $7,176 but, as usual, we’re traveling for free on points!
Best Secrets Impressions Resort: Secrets Impressions Moxché
#4: Breathless Resorts & Spas
If you want to have a wild party at an all inclusive resort, this looks like what you want.

Billed as an all inclusive resort with “invigorating entertainment,” Breathless All Inclusive Resorts aim their marketing towards the adult party crowd.
- Adult Only
- Party Atmosphere All Inclusive Resort
- All Food & Drinks Included
- Room Service Included
Best Breathless Resort: Breathless Punta Cana Resort & Spa
#5: Dreams Resorts & Spas
As the first family friendly all inclusive resort of the new Hyatt brands, this looks like a good blend of fun and relaxation for families. Unlike the other Hyatt All Inclusive brands that have 4-15 locations, there are a whopping 24 Dreams Resorts across Mexico & the Caribbean.
- Family Friendly
- All Inclusive Resort
- All Food & Drinks Included
- Room Service Included
Best Dreams Resort: Dreams Dominicus La Romana
#6: Sunscape Resorts & Spas
Of the 3 family friendly all inclusive brands by Hyatt, Sunscape Resorts looks to have the most fun stuff for kids. In fact, the only photos of the hotel on the Hyatt website are of the kids pool and a kids playground.
There was a time when that would appeal to Zuzu & me. But as recent empty nesters, we’ll pass on this one & stick with the other Hyatt all inclusive resorts on this list.
- Family Friendly… really more like Kid Friendly
- All Inclusive Resort
- All Food & Drinks Included
- Room Service Included
Best Sunscape Resort: Sunscape Curaçao Resort & Spa
#7: Vivid Hotels & Resorts (coming soon)
We don’t know much about this new Hyatt all inclusive brand other than it’s adult oriented and will be beachfront resorts. There are no Vivid Resorts listed on the Hyatt website yet.
#8: Alua Hotels & Resorts
The Alula brand has 42 semi all inclusive resorts in Spain & Greece. In 2023, Alua will add 2 more Hyatt Alua resorts in Bulgaria. Most of the Alua Hotels look more like nice hotels than resorts. For now, I’ll keep it at the bottom of my list of Hyatt all inclusive resorts.
If we make it to Spain on our trip to Europe next year, I’ll update the website with a review of an Alua Hotel.
Best Alua Resort: AluaSoul Menorca
Bonus All Inclusive Resorts
In addition to the 9 brands in the Hyatt Inclusive Collection, there are 3 more AI resort brands that you can book though Hyatt. You can even book them for free with Hyatt points!
Hyatt Miraval Resorts
All Miraval Resorts are in the United States. These are ultra high end resorts and are more about relaxing and connecting with the local environment.
Alila Resorts
Looking to bundle an eco-luxury experience with meals, non-alcoholic drinks and activities into an all inclusive price? With a global footprint, Alila Resorts might be just what you want! Some Alila resorts offer All Inclusive options but not all do. Get the full scoop about Alila Resorts by clicking here.
Small Luxury Hotel (SLH) Properties
While each property has it’s own name, these boutique resorts can be booked for free with World of Hyatt points. And a few are all inclusive!
Ever wanted to stay on a private island? Calala Island may be the most unique all inclusive resort in the world! Or stay for free on Hyatt points at a Dude Ranch in Colorado!

St Martin All Inclusive Resorts
While there are a handful of all inclusive resorts in St Martin, there’s only one that you can book for free with Hyatt points like Zuzu & I did on our 2022 anniversary trip.
We booked it with 25k Hyatt points per night but the prices increased to 30k points per night since our stay.

Secrets St Martin is on the northern tip of Sint Maarten, on the French side, about a 30 minute drive from SXM airport & Philipsburg which are on the south side of the island.
Although the beach was the best white sand beach we’ve experienced, the resort was horribly inconsistent.
Since we met the single most wonderful staff member at any resort (Thimogene made us feel like family every time we saw her), it really pains me to say that I can’t recommend Secrets St Martin.
Here’s the crazy thing. My Hyatt Concierge turned this disappointing vacation into a free $7000 trip for us! Read my Secrets St Martin review to get the whole story!

While the Hyatt Regency Grand Reserve Puerto Rico is a great oceanfront hotel, there are no Hyatt All Inclusive Resorts in Puerto Rico.
We’ve booked a free anniversary trip to Puerto Rico. Signup for our newsletter to hear about that trip!
Hyatt All Inclusive Award Chart
If you want to travel to luxury resorts for free, you can do like Zuzu & I do: Use World of Hyatt points to get free stays at these AI resorts.
Hyatt has 6 different categories for All Inclusive Resorts. The points required for each category are in the All Inclusive Award chart.

This award chart is only for the Hyatt all inclusive resorts in the Inclusive Collection. Other Hyatt properties, including the Small Luxury Hotels and MGM Rewards destinations follow a different award chart with Categories 1-8.
In general, a Category C All Inclusive resort costs the same 20k points that a Category 4 Hyatt property costs. However, the most expensive points hotels, costing 40k points, are Category 8. The most expensive All Inclusive resorts are Category F which will set you back 50k points per night.
How We Stay at Hyatt Resorts for Free
If you want to learn how Zuzu & I have been able to stay at 18 different Hyatt’s for free in the last 2 years, check out this blog post:
Or better yet, click here and download our 14 page eBook: Guide to Free Luxury Travel.
Ziva Cancun and Zilara Cancun are not adjoining. You would definitely need to take a taxi to transfer between the two.
Thanks for catching that!
For Puerto Vallarta, you failed to mention a number of other properties that are in the area…
The Secrets Vallarta Bay located adjacent/connected to the Dreams hotel (shared restaurants but separate pools); the Dreams Villamagna in Nuevo Vallarta, just north of the airport and the dual property of Secrets and Dreams Bahia Mita Surf & Spa Resort in Punta de Mita on the western shore of Mexico in Nayarit State. While the latter 2 are the furthest away from the airport, the distance is still shorter/closer than resorts in Tulum/Playa del Carmen to Cancun.
What was the problem and timeframe to correct the infinity pool at Secrets St Martin?
Seems like a huge problem
The “infinity” part wasn’t working. The pool was in use but the water was a half foot below the (infinity) edge of the pool. So it was just a pool, not an infinity pool. The infinity spillover area on the outside of the pool was dry and in need of maintenance. btw, I’ll have a full review of the resort pretty soon which will include this.
